The Effect of Scan Length on Effective Dose in Emergency Brain CT Scans in Pediatric Patients
The study examines how scan length affects the effective radiation dose in emergency brain CT scans of pediatric patients. It found that over 54% of scans had lengths exceeding the optimal range, leading to higher radiation exposure. Notably, the presence of a hand in the imaging field did not significantly impact the effective dose. These findings underscore the importance of adhering to appropriate scan lengths to minimize radiation exposure in children.
